Have you considered rainwater harvesting to get around the hosepipe ban?

During times of a water hosepipe ban it is important to understand what you are and aren't able to do as getting it wrong can cause you a pretty hefty fine. Below you will see some of the items disallowed during a hosepipe ban, please see your water company for a more definitive list.

• watering a garden using a hosepipe;
• cleaning a private motor-vehicle using a hosepipe;
• watering plants on domestic or other non-commercial premises using a hosepipe;
• cleaning a private leisure boat using a hosepipe;
• filling or maintaining a domestic swimming or paddling pool (except when using hand held containers filled directly from a tap);
• drawing water, using a hosepipe, for domestic recreational use;
• filling or maintaining a domestic pond (excluding fish ponds) using a hosepipe;
• filling or maintaining an ornamental fountain;
• cleaning walls, or windows, of domestic premises using a hosepipe;
• cleaning paths or patios using a hosepipe;
• cleaning other artificial outdoor surfaces using a hosepipe.

The penalty for each offence is £1000.
